You held your small boy in your arms to keep him from crying, whispering words of kindness into his young ears.
"There, there, baby... It's okay. You'll be okay..." You cooed, rocking him back and forth, even if, at age five, he was much to big to fit in your arms. His eyes watered up. His normally blank face was scrunched in pain.
He whimpered, hugging his mother gently. "M-mama... It hurts..." He whispered. You rubbed his back in small circles.
"I know baby," you whispered, saddened by the fact that your child had come down with a cold.... Which he'd given to the rest of the family.
Cries of pain came from Emil's crib. You stood up with Berwald still in your arms, and picked up your younger boy. Emil sobbed into your shoulder, whimpering in pain. Lukas got up from his bed, determined to help his baby brother. "Sweetie, go lay down. You are sick too." You whispered, trying not to wake your two other boys, who were rolling around in discomfort.
He looked up at you with huge blue eyes. "But... You're sick too." He stated. He'd got you there. You were sick.
"That's different. Now please, go back to bed." He hesitated, but nodded, giving his little brother a kiss before crawling back into his bed.
Pretty soon, however, Tino woke up, sobbing hysterically. You scooched over to him, rubbing his head gentl--
"MOOOOOOOOOOOOOTHER!"
"ALRIGHT! Everybody up, we're sleeping in my room." ______ declared, picking up the two she'd been holding as the three others walked to her room with her, everyone piling onto her bed with ________ in the middle. "Everyone comfortable?" You asked.
The chorus of 'No's came back, making you sigh.
"Alright... I'm sorry angels, but there's nothing I can do. You already took your medicine. I'll take you to the doctor's in the morning." And with that, the all fell asleep, just as the sun peaked over the horizon.
